History of the Contractors Federation in Islamic countries

The Islamic Contractors Federation was established in 1991 in the Kingdom of Morocco, with the aim of enabling national contracting companies to implement development projects in member states through cooperation, integration, and coordination with the Islamic Development Bank. The founding meeting saw the participation of 135 contracting companies from 20 Islamic countries.

In 2006, the Federation was recognized as an organization operating within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, through Resolution No. passed at the Meetings of Foreign Ministers of Islamic Countries during its 33rd session held in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Federation consisted of approximately 250 members from 23 Islamic countries.

Subsequently, various sessions and meetings were held in several Islamic countries, alongside the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, including the General Assembly. The last meeting took place in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, in 2012.

In November 2022, after revitalization efforts under the generous sponsorship of the Islamic Development Bank, the founding General Assembly of the Federation was held. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was chosen as the headquarters of the Federation, and Engineer Zakaria bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader was appointed as the President of the Federation.
